Boonedocks.com Posting Guidelines

Below you will find some guidelines for posting content on Boonedocks.com. We ask all site users who post any content on our website to please abide by these guidelines. Boonedocks.com administrators and moderators reserve the right to remove, at anytime, any content that does not abide by these posted guidelines.

If you have any questions or concerns about our website, please contact us and we will respond to your comment or inquiry as soon as possible.

Please be civil.

We ask all users who post text, comments and/or images to our website to please remain courteous, polite and respectful to all other users. We provide links at the bottom of each post’s page to report hostile, hateful or abusive commentary or imagery. Please use them.

Be considerate of others’ opinions and beliefs, even if they differ wildly from your own. Use common courtesy when posting comments: avoid aggressive argumentation. Refrain from abusive, obscene, or offensive language, images, or links. Do not post content from, or links to, offensive Internet sites.

No advertisements.

Please do not post any marketing messages in your comments. This includes any solicitations to our readers for commercial or promotional purposes of any kind. Also, please refrain from posting any URLs to external sites for commercial or promotional purposes. Links to your personal website or blog are acceptable. Links to public service, government and/or non-profit websites are acceptable.

Stay safe.

Please keep all public postings safe. Do not post any private or personal information, such as your phone number, home address, or email address. This also includes posting other people's private information.

Stay on topic.

We encourage you to write comments on any posts; however, please keep all comments related to the writer’s topic or content as much as possible.

If you post it, you own it.

Think twice before you post. Would you want your family, friends, colleagues, or others to read or see the content you are about to post? Keep in mind that even if original content can be deleted, the content that is shared and distributed through an array of channels can be reposted, searched, and found on the Internet.

Post as yourself.

Although we do not require that you post using your real name (make sure your user name is not similar to your real name if you want to maintain your anonymous identity), please do not misrepresent yourself or submit any comments under an identity (individual or company) that is not your own.

Don’t plagiarize.

Please do not include any content in any of your posted texts, comments or images that you did not write or create yourself. If your text or comment includes quotations from another person or source, please include proper attribution. (Link to source of proper Internet attribution)

Respect the law, especially with regard to intellectual property.

It is critical that you show proper respect for the law generally, and specifically for the laws governing copyright and fair use of copyrighted material. You should not quote more than short excerpts from someone else’s work and all quotations must be properly attributed. If possible, it is a good general practice to link to others’ work. Use appropriate symbols to mark the first appearance of trademarked terms in your content. Do not post text, images, music or other copyrighted content unless you own them or have permission from the owner to display such content in this context. Keep in mind that the laws may differ depending on where you live.

By posting content to Boonedocks.com, you are agreeing to allow anyone with access to Boonedocks.com to access it and use it without restriction, except with regard to any applicable intellectual property rights that you or others may have in such content.

When commenting on others’ posts, please keep it clean.

Please refrain from using any foul language in comments you make on others’ writing. In addition to foul language, we also ask that you do not write comments that include any obscene, sexually explicit, racist, or hateful language of any kind.

A note about erotica:

Boonedocks.com does allow writers to post material that contains descriptions of adult sexual activity as long as the activity is in the context of a larger story and/or artfully written. Do not post writing that is merely pornographic.

Posting artistic nudes of adults (photos, sketches, paintings, etc.) in romance or erotic posts is allowed as long as they do not violate copyright law. Do not post obviously pornographic images (sex acts, penetration, close-ups, etc.) and do not post any images or depictions of minors engaging in sexual activity; they will be removed and your account will be terminated.

Anyone posting anything of an erotic, adult or mature nature must use Boonedocks.com’s rating system (see next).

Use Boonedocks.com’s rating system and tools.

Before submitting a post on Boonedocks.com, we ask you to rate the material according to a rating system similar to the one used for motion pictures, television and video games. This is a self-rating system and we expect you to be honest. Failure to properly rate a post can result in the deletion of the post and/or your Boonedocks.com account. If you encounter a post that contains any matter unsuited to its rating, please notify a moderator immediately by clicking the “Report Ratings Violation” link at the bottom of the post’s page.

Ratings:

G—General Audiences, Generally Suitable for All Ages
A G-rated Boonedocks.com post contains nothing in theme, language, nudity, sex, violence or other matters that, in the view of the submitter, would offend parents whose younger children read the post. The G rating is not a "certificate of approval," nor does it signify a "children’s" post. Some snippets of language may go beyond polite conversation but they are common everyday expressions. No stronger words are present in G-rated posts. Depictions of violence are minimal. No nudity, sex scenes or drug use are present in the post.

PG—Parental Guidance Suggested, Some Material May Be Unsuitable for Young Children.
A PG-rated post should be investigated by parents before they let their younger children view it. The PG rating indicates, in the view of the submitter, that parents may consider some material unsuitable for their children, and parents should make that decision. The more mature themes in some PG-rated content may call for parental guidance. There may be some profanity and some depictions of or references to violence or brief nudity. These elements, however, are not deemed so intense as to require that parents be strongly cautioned beyond the suggestion of parental guidance. There is no drug use content in a PG-rated post.

PG13— Parents Strongly Cautioned, Some Material May Be Inappropriate For Children Under 13
A PG-13 rating is a sterner warning by the submitter to parents to determine whether their children under age 13 should view the content of the post, as some material might not be suited for them. Content in a PG-13 post may go beyond the PG rating in theme, violence, nudity, sensuality, language, adult activities or other elements, but does not reach the restricted R category. The theme of the post by itself will not result in a rating greater than PG-13, although depictions of activities related to a mature theme may result in a restricted rating for the post. Any drug use will initially require at least a PG-13 rating. More than brief depictions of nudity will require at least a PG-13 rating, but such nudity in a PG-13 rated post generally will not be sexually oriented. There may be depictions of violence in a PG-13 post, but generally not both realistic and extreme or persistent violence. The use of any profanity requires at least a PG-13 rating. Repetitive use of profanity requires an R rating.

R — Restricted. Content of the Post is Not Recommended for Children Under 17.
An R-rated post, in the view of the submitter, contains some adult material. An R-rated post may include adult themes, adult activity, hard language, intense or persistent violence, sexually-oriented nudity, drug abuse or other elements, so that parents are counseled to take this rating very seriously. On Boonedocks.com, children under 17 are advised against viewing R-rated posts.

M—Mature. Content of the Post Should Only be Viewed by Adults 18+.
An M rating does not necessarily mean "obscene" or "pornographic" in the common or legal meaning of those words, and should not be construed as a negative judgment in any sense. The rating simply signals that the content is appropriate only for an adult audience. An M rating can be based on violence, sexual activity, aberrational behavior, drug abuse or any other element that most parents would consider too strong and therefore off-limits for viewing by their children. Boonedocks.com gives you the option to filter out all M rated posts. Simply visit your user profile page and uncheck the option to “View Mature Content.”

Updates to Guidelines.

Boonedocks.com posting guidelines are subject to change at any time without notice, although we will likely post an announcement to the queue on the homepage if significant changes do occur.
